Thesis, English Education Department, Teacher Training and Tarbiyah Faculty, State Islamic University Sultan Aji Muhammad Idris Samarinda. This research is under the guidance of Mr. Umar Fauzan, M. Pd., as the first advisor, and Mrs. Anis Komariah, M. Pd., as the second advisor.
The language feature is an important content in writing activity, especially in writing text. Students must be aware of its utilization because of its importance. However, this phenomenon, the students’ errors of language feature in writing descriptive text, are highlighted in subsequent explanations and discussion. So, this study focuses on students using language features when producing a descriptive text in the eighth grade of MTs Al Muna Samarinda.
The research used a descriptive qualitative design. The primary data of this research were taken from seven students by the eighth graders of MTs Al Muna Samarinda in the academic year 2022/2023. The criteria for data and data sources for this research are students who make the correct descriptive text.
The result of the task showed that there were four types of errors in writing. They were specific participants, simple present tense, adjectives, and action verbs. Specific participant errors include using double subjects, omission of articles, and the possessive pronoun. Errors in the simple present tense consist of omission s/es in certain verbs, omissions and misselecting “to be”. The errors in adjectives consist of misselecting adjectives and omission of the article. The last error is action verb s due to misselecting action verbs and omission of prepositions.</note>
