The thesis has been led by Dr. H. Shafa, S.Pd.I., M.Pd, as the first advisor, and Dra. Sitti Hadijah M.Pd, as the second advisor.
This  study goes  back  to  the  difficulty students  experienced  in  learning listening comprehension. Listening comprehension plays an important role in learning a language used to convey meaning. Many media can be used in teaching listening comprehension. One of them is YouTube videos. It provides students to understand the meaning of the speaker by looking and hearing. The research objective  is  to  know  whether  the  use  of  YouTube  videos  is  able  to  increase students’ listening comprehension at the eighth grade students of SMPN 5 Loa Janan.
This research used Quantitative research with a Quasi-Experimental design. the research was conducted in SMPN 5 Loa Janan. Eighth grade students were taken as the population. VIII D as an Experimental class and VIII C as a control class were chosen as the sample of this research. The classes were chosen through purposive random sampling. The experiment class was taught by using YouTube Videos and the control class was taught by using a conventional method. Documentation  and  Test  which  consists  of  10  items  questions  in  the  form  of multiple choice were chosen as a research instrument.
The result of the research showed that the pre-test score of the control class (34) and the experiment class (40,67) meanwhile, the post-test score of the control class (44,67) was lower than the experiment class (48,00). After analyzing the data using Mann Whitney test, the result showed that the P value< t table which is 0,713<2,048 with the significance level (α) 0.05. It showed that the null hypothesis was accepted which means there was no significant increase in listening comprehension toward students who are taught by using YouTube videos and who are not taught by YouTube videos in SMPN 5 Loa Janan in academic year of 2022/2023.</note>
