Pd, M. TESOL, as the second advisor, guide this research. Motivation is the driving force or pusher to do something work, which can come from within and outside. With motivation, students will develop strategies to achieve these goals. There are two kinds of motivation in learning namely intrinsic and extrinsic. It is used to encourage someone or students to achieve existing goals. However, this research was marely focused on intrinsic motivation because it is interesting to be studied whether or not students have intrinsic motivation in English language learning. It was intended to know the students' intrinsic motivation in learning English at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 1 Samarinda. The researcher used a descriptive quantitative method in this research. It used questionnaire instruments that consisted of 18 items of the questionnaire. The population of the research was students of XII Religion A and B. While the total sample was 66 students. The result of this research was shown from the students’ regards of the questionnaire. This research concludes that the students' motivation in learning English at MAN 1 Samarinda in the academic year 2022/2023 was in the good motivation level with a mean score was 70.39, it means that the students in XII Religion A and B have good motivation in learning English.
