Writing is the most complicated language skill to learn by students. The students must think hard to produce words, sentences, and paragraphs. When writing,  students  should  pay  attention  to  the  structure  related  to  writing components such as grammatical structure, vocabulary, content, organization and mechanic. The study aimed to find out the quality of students writing on a descriptive text by the tenth grade at SMA Nabil Husein Samarinda.
Research design of this research is quantitative descriptive research that involves collecting data in order to answer questions about current of the sample of the study. The sample of this research is all the tenth-grade students of SMA Nabil Husein. In collecting the data, the researcher used a writing test and questionnaire and then analyzed the writing test using a Jacobs rubric student writing test based on five aspects and a questionnaire using descriptive statistics.
The result of this research showed the quality of students writing on descriptive text at tenth grade at SMA Nabil Husein belongs good. In addition, most of the difficulties faced by students were language use and vocabulary. It proved in questionnaire vocabulary (82,9%) and language use (77,9%). This indicates that teacher should improve their teaching skill in the descriptive text to overcome the difficulties.</note>
