This research was supervised by Mr. Dr. Bahrani, M. Pd as the first advisor and Mrs. Dini Irawati, M. Pd as the second advisor.
Vocabulary is components of the language that English learners must mastered.  A person’s vocabulary  is described  as the  set  of  all  the  phrases understood through others. A vocabulary is needed to know and master to make it easier to interact with others. Vocabulary is considered as an important part of language because it supports students’ abilities in developing their language skills. This research shows that students struggle to remember new vocabulary and understand its meaning despite lectures, homework, discussions, and drilling. This research determined whether English songs teach verb vocabulary and whether using songs in eighth grade at MTs Al-Azhar Samarinda improves learning.
Quantitative methods were used in this research. The design of this research used pre-experimental research. The population for this research was eighth grade student at MTs Al-Azhar Samarinda in academic year 2023/2024. Class VIII D that consist 28 students was taken as sample on this research. Test items were used for research as instrument. The data was collected using inferential statistics. Hypotheses were tested using the t-test after normality tests. SPSS 25 was used to analyze the data.
The result of the research show there is significance difference in students’ vocabulary achievement before treatment and after treatment that taught using English songs as media. The mean of pre-test score is 44 while the mean score of post test is 82,68. The t-test result shows sig (2-tailed) = 0.000 and alpha = 0.05. Sig (2-tailed) indicates a value below alpha (0.000<0.05). Thus, English songs were effective and could improve eighth-graders' vocabulary at MTs Al-Azhar Samarinda.</note>
