S.S., M.Pd as the first advisor and Mrs. Widya Noviana Noor, M.Pd as the second advisor.
People listen to something that comes out of the mouth of the speaker and then people understand the words that fall one by one. After that, listeners process it into an integral part to respond to what the speaker said. Some media that can be used in teaching listening. One of them is using podcasts. Podcasts has an important role in motivating students to listen during the learning process and make students comfortable and feel engrossed in the process of learning listening. The research aimed to find out the implementation of podcasts on Spotify to improve students’ listening skills at the 8th grade of SMP Negeri 34 Samarinda in the academic year of 2023/2024.
The design of this research was a quasi-experimental. The population of this research was   the 8th  grade of SMP Negeri 34 Samarinda that consisted of two classes as the sample, VIII A as the experimental class and VIII C as the control class with the total number of sample being 64. Paired sample test was conducted to determine whether there is a difference in the average score between the pre-test and post-test scores. The results obtained from the paired sample T-test showed Sig (2-tailed) 0.000 < 0,05, it can be concluded that Ho is accepted and Ha is rejected, which means that there is a difference in the average pre-test and post-test values of the control class and the experimental class on the learning outcomes of class VIII students at SMP Negeri 34 Samarinda.
The research found that the implementation of teaching material by applying podcasts on Spotify technique is effective in improving students listening skills. It was proved by the mean score of student achievement before and after giving treatment which increased from 72.09 become 86.62. It is better than before. In conclusion it showed that, the implementation of podcast on Spotify more effective to improve students’ listening skills at 8th  grade of SMP Negeri 34 Samarinda.</note>
