<note>Kiki Aprianti Ahmadi, 2022. "An Analysis of Students Self-Efficacy in Speaking English in Fifth Semester of the English Education Department at UINSI Samarinda." Thesis, English Education Department, Teacher a Training and Education Faculty, Sultan Aji Muhammad Idris State Islamic University, Samarinda. This research was under the guidance of Rostanti Toba, M.Pd as the first supervisor and Dini Irawati, M.Pd as the second supervisor.
Speaking English is an important part of the journey of learning a foreign language. In practice, we often face difficulties. Many factors influence difficulties in speaking English. Self-efficacy is one of the factors that influence a person's success in speaking English. Self-efficacy is a form of self-confidence in his abilities that allows the student to assess the amount of effort and perseverance in completing his task. The scale of self-efficacy is based on three dimensions, namely: magnitude/level, strength, and generality. Based on these problems, researcher want to find out students' self-efficacy in speaking English in the fifth semester of the English Education Department and also find out the most dominant dimension in students' self-efficacy.
This research used a descriptive qualitative method. The subject of this research was TBI 1 in the fifth semester. The data were collected using a questionnaire, interviews, and documentation and then analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldana. The data were validated using source and technical triangulation.
Based on the research results, researcher found that the self-efficacy of students in speaking English in the fifth semester of the English Education Department at UINSI Samarinda, both in each dimension and as a whole, showed that the level of self-efficacy was in the moderate category. Researcher also found that the magnitude/level is the most dominant dimension in students' self-efficacy.</note>
